About this experience
Leave Cairo early for the long westward journey through the desert, with a stop at Marsa Matrouh before reaching Siwa.
After settling into the agreed ecolodge or hot-spring camp, explore the Great Sand Sea by 4x4 and pause at a hot spring or salt lake as conditions allow. The second day brings Siwa's cultural and ancient sites: Mountain of the Dead, the Temple of the Oracle of Amun, Cleopatra's Spring, a traditional house and Shali Fortress.
Enjoy the included meals and return to Cairo on day three after the final oasis visit. The road distances are substantial, so keep onward plans flexible.
